Nativity Set--Taking Christmas for Granted

Color us naive, but we thought that if we looked hard enough, we would eventually find a Russian (or even a Chinese-produced) nativity set. Nope! Perhaps in Moscow or St. Petersburg, but not in Vladivostok. At least, not yet...

Russians have discovered Santa Claus (riding in a Russian sleigh drawn by three horses), but very few have any conception of Christ being the center of and purpose for Christmas. We've looked everywhere and asked, and they just don't seem to make, import, or sell any here. We haven't found any Russians who even know what a nativity set is.

One very kind atheist took us to a gigantic mall--named China Town-- hoping to help us find a nativity set. Lots of tinsel, lots of colored lights, but no Christ for Christmas to be found.
